So....I have some pretty exciting news! I am engaged! That's right, ten days after being home he proposed!
Here's the proposal story:
We went out on Monday, December 19th to cut down a Christmas tree. Because it is more manly my beau brought an axe. He was choppin' away at the tree and then asked if I wanted a turn. I began attempting not to cut my leg off and he was taking pictures of me. Then something fell on my head so I looked down and there was a pickle ornament-which had fallen out of the tree. Then I looked at it and there was a ring on it! And he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I said "yes"!
I am very excited to marry my best friend and the most amazing man I could ever hope for!

"A date which will live in infamy"
Today marks the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Unfortunately I cannot get the video to upload, but here's the link.
But, this is another one that I really like.
I am so thankful for those who have served, both past and present.

Final Blues
The final blues have begun to set in. I start finals on the 12 and they run through the 21. I have a presentation this week and an Organic Chemistry test. Ugh. I did get some fabric over the Black Friday Weekend for this dress. The one on the right side. I am hoping for it to be my Christmas dress and to make a matching tie for my beau! The only thing is, it has a lining! Eek! (I believe I mentioned that before....) BUT, I think I am going to go to an open sewing class to work on it so they can help me! Merry December!
Here is my dress form and me! I need to add a little bustage to it...It is almost flat chested, and I am most definitely not! |

Pink Coat
I did a little shopping this weekend, but I really did not want to spend a lot of money on things I did not need. BUT, I did get a new coat! See! It is a light pink trench coat and only $10 at Savers! (It was half off of $20, I wouldn't have paid $20 for it...)
ALSO.....I got fabric for a little baby blanket and some fabric to make a new dress! Yay! I am thinking that it will be my Christmas dress. Thing is, it has a lining on the bust area and I don't understand linings. But I heard that a local sewing cafe has open sewing this month on Wednesdays for relatively inexpensive, so maybe I will do that!
Here is another vintage umbrella my mom got me! |

Getting Ready
I love getting all ready. I love any excuse to "dress up". Today is Thanksgiving and I get to spend the day with my whole family! :] What a great reason to dress up! I have more to write about, but this is all for the moment.
I was trying to channel Betty Grable here! |
I was getting a little carried away here! Trying to look sultry...HAHA! |

Ghost Walk in Carson City
I love ghost walks/tours. I love learning the history of the people that once inhabited the various places and what they did in their lives. Much of this has probably stemmed from when I was young, my mom loved history things. I used to pretend I lived anywhere from the 1500s-1800s. Okay, back to the story at hand. I went to Carson City, my state's capital, last weekend on a ghost walk. It was so much fun! And pretty!
This is my friend Jeremy and I, I think he even enjoyed the tour! :] |
This is just a picture of me and my car...No particular reason for this one. |

My Beau
My mom recently found the pictures of what I consider the beginning of my beau and me dating. (This was in May 2009) Granted we did not start dating for another 6 or so months, but it was here that we actually spent time together in a date style instead of just a group hanging out without being on a "date". I thought I would share! He is currently serving a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and comes home on December 9th! I cannot wait to see him again.
I know that I look rather silly, but I love the way he is looking at me so I can't help but adore this picture |

Pin Curls
I am still on the fence with pin curls. I think I prefer sponge rollers or perming rods, but pin curls are a lot more comfortable! They seem to take a really long time to dry and they have more kinks in them than when I use other forms of wet sets. I think once I find my rollers I will have to try that again to compare the two!
I had my outfit all planned until I could not find my skirt! This was the backup. |
I ended up putting a ribbon in my hair because it was on my face and I hate hair being on my face! |

A New Dress
I finished a new dress! I went to see CAKE perform last night and wanted to make a new dress to wear for it and this was the product of that. I used McCall's 5972 to make this little number. I added sleeves to it and did not put in a lining, but other than that I just made the pattern as written.
Here I am at about 2 am with my ticket stub |

Decisions, Decisions
And an outfit post! I shall start with that...It is beginning to feel like fall here in my neck of the woods! Finally! This is a skirt I made with a little cardigan that I like quite a lot.
Okay, now for the decisions part. I am planning on going to a somewhat formal dance in December and I want to make a dress for this event, but I am torn between a few Vintage Vogue patterns. Here are the culprits.
1. Vogue 1094
2. Vogue 1044. I imagine this one with a lace top. Mmmm.
3. This is one that I may just make to wear for semi-dress up occasions.
